Working Up Until Your Due Date
Depending on the type of job held, in most cases expectant women can work up until their due date. That does not necessarily mean that they will be doing their regular jobs. If in a labor-intensive industry, the expectant mother would have to resort to light duty . As the pregnancy progresses, what you can and can't do changes as well.
The later part of the pregnancy often brings on normal discomforts including lower back pain and the swelling of feet and ankles. It is advised that working mom-to-be's should alternate between sitting and standing. Standing too long can put intense pressure on your back. When sitting, try elevating your feet if possible to reduce some of the swelling.
Of course, if you are in a high-risk pregnancy of any sort, including carrying multiples, consult your OBGYN for approval and recommendations.
